Patrick Crunden recorded his first half century - 58 not out in 45 balls - for the club in the 3rd XI’s successful run chase against Murrayfield DAFS 3rd XI, following Hamish Tucker’s first 5-wicket haul.

In the 2nd XI’s 10 wicket victory in a Braw Skelp Cup match against Drummond Trinity, skipper Dan Kirk contributed 110 and George Baltzer 56 to a partnership of 182.

18 July

Oli Hairs passed 5,000 runs (with - inevitably! - a 6) during his century against Arbroath at Myreside - his 13th, equalling the totals of James Henderson and Mike Carson in the 1st XI. Oli reached 50 in 19 balls, 100 in 42 balls and 110 in 46 balls.

In his second season, Donovan Du Randt passed 1,500 runs and 1,000 league runs during his century - his third for the club - against Arbroath.

Donovan and Tiaan Kuhn’s 6th wicket partnership of 161 v Arbroath is a new club record – the previous best being 156 in 1994 against Stenhousemuir between Mark Everett and David Rainey. Tiaan’s contribution of 81 not out was his first half-century for the club.

The total of 380 (for 6) v Arbroath was the second highest in the East Premier League (EPL) and highest in the EPL at Myreside. It was the 5th highest in all games and 3rd highest at Myreside.

In the 3rd XI’s comfortable victory over Carlton 4th XI, Vishal Chawan registered a first fifty for the club in only 34 balls.

25 July

Oli Hairs reached 50 in only 13 balls, ending with 60 in 16 balls – including 32 runs from the 3rd over of the innings - against Stewart’s Melville at Inverleith. When dismissed, the scoreboard showed 61 for 2 wickets: last man 60! He also passed 1,000 runs for the season in that innings.

Laurie Cox made his maiden century for the club with 102 for the 2nd XI against Dunfermine and Carnegie. His 10th wicket partnership with Abid Shinwari (0* in 17 balls) amounted to 56 with Laurie’s contribution being 54 of that 56.

Sukhrajveer Singh also recorded a first century for the club with 102 from 78 balls in the 3rd XI’s total of 318 (for 5) against Leith FAB 3rd XI at Craiglockhart, having missed a century when dismissed for 95 earlier in the season.

Postscript

1 August

Another master-class was provided by acting skipper Oli Hairs with his 186 not out against Carlton at Myreside as a challenging total of 258 (in 48 overs) was chased down in a mere 23 overs! Oli’s innings comprised 22 boundaries and 11 maximums in 74 balls. This, his 14th hundred - which he reached with his sixth maximum in 41 balls, leaves him only one behind the club record of 15. Ollie Pillinger played his part in the run-chase with an unbeaten 46 in an unfinished fourth wicket partnership of 145 with Oli.

In the same game Tom Wylie reached 50 1st XI wickets.

Fraser Kinloch, meanwhile, was recording a maiden century for the club with 123 (including 12 boundaries and 6 maximums) from 83 balls as the 3rd XI recorded its 15th victory of the season and 7th in successive matches before bowling out Gala 2nd XI for only 37 to record a 232-run success at Meigle Park. Simon Moulds took four catches behind the stumps in the game.
