Sunday’s Kwik Cricket festival at Myreside is nearly upon us. The weather forecast looks great and we’re excited to be hosting 11 visiting U10 sides to play against each other and five WCC teams.
The event starts at 9.30am. All players should be there promptly so that you can be sorted into teams ready for the first matches to start at 9.45am. Do allow time to park considerately if you are travelling by car as the Pavilion car park will likely fill up very quickly. Myreside Road, Colinton Road and the school’s grandstand car park (the southern one which is still open) are good alternatives to the Pavilion.
All the Watsonian U10 players will receive free t-shirts on the day and all players will receive a lunch bag after their busy morning’s play.
As well as three matches per team of Kwik Cricket we will also be fundraising in aid of Sporting Start (www.sportingstart.org). Top prize in our raffle will be a cricket bat signed by all the members of Scotland’s triumphant one day international side after the win over England. We are also giving you the chance to bowl at George Munsey, our head coach and top order batsman for Scotland, fresh from victory in the T20 Tri-Series against Ireland and the Netherlands and on a red hot run of form.
There will be teas, coffees and bacon rolls on sale in the Pavilion bar upstairs and homebaked goodies for sale outside. All donations of baked goods for sale would be extremely welcome on the morning, the earlier the better. Don’t forget to clearly label any baked goods containing nuts.
We can’t wait to see you on Sunday morning, the more support the merrier for our young cricketers! The Watsonian Ladies will also be playing a Women’s Premier League match at Myreside at 1pm, once the Festival is over, and would love to have your support if the morning has given you a taste for more.
