Watsonian CC 1st XI vs Royal High Corstorphine: 19/05/18 – Match Report

On a hot day at Barnton skipper Chalmers won the toss and elected to bat, looking to utilise the good condition, Carson and Nel stepped to the crease. The RHC openers bowled tightly picking up a couple of wickets early doors. The two chubbs rebuilt putting on 70 before Andrew fell for 27, Ewan shortly followed for 48. The Watsonians lower order all chipped in managing to get the team to a total of 173 all out from the 50 overs.

Tea: baked potato with various fillings, some fruit and a bit of chocolate cake. Nice for a change from the normal cricket tea but no cup of tea with it… 6.5/10

Looking to defend their total the Watsonians opening bowlers Nel and Munsey picked up a couple of early wickets but with a couple of chances going down the momentum of the innings quickly changed and RHC started to get on top. The home team soon took advantage of the fallen Watsonian heads hitting a few boundaries and finally getting to the total  5 wickets down.

The walk back to the pavilion after the game was a LONG one but we now pick ourselves up and go again next week!
