Watsonian 4s won the toss and decided to bowl first. On a pitch with short boundaries and an even bounce 250 seemed like a par score. However Farhan Khan and Ross Martin got us off to a good start with some accurate bowling, restricting them to about 40 in their first 10 overs and taking a couple of wickets. Luke Scott and Charlie Robertson kept up the good work with some good full pitched bowling but when our spinners came on their top scorer increased their scoring rate by hitting regular boundaries. Ross Martin and Daniel Bryen pegged them back though with some sharp bowling and once their top scorer was caught on the boundary by Charlie Robertson their scoring rate dropped back leaving them short of runs on 172 for 9.
Batting second for the first time in quite a while, Watsonian 4’s got off to a speedy start in their chase with Daniel Bryen and Adam Dickinson scoring rapidly. When the openers were out the ship was first steadied and then pushed on by an excellent 60 not out by Ewan Rhodes. Despite Julian Fontana retiring injured the batsmen saw the 4s home with little or no worries as the target was reached with 11 overs to spare and 6 wickets in hand.
